Residents in several central U.S. states spent Thursday rummaging through the rubble left behind by a deadly storm system that killed at least 16 people in Oklahoma alone. Rescue workers in Missouri continued to find survivors after a tornado ripped through the city of Joplin on Sunday, killing at least 125 people. Authorities say 232 people are still missing. The National Weather Service said the tornado appeared to have more than one vortex and gave the tornado an EF5 rating, the strongest assigned to tornadoes, with winds of more than 200 mph.
