Making money online used to pretty much require you to have your own Web site, products to sell and some marketing savvy. But a new generation of dot-coms have arisen that will pay you for what you know and who you know without you having to be a web designer or a marketing genius. But it's hard to tell hype from the real deal. I did a search on "make money online" and "making money online", and much of the information out there is just promoting various infoproducts, mostly about Internet marketing. I see why people sometimes ask, "Is anyone making money online besides Internet marketing experts?"
So I put together a list of business opportunities with legitimate companies that:
Sites like ReferEarns, Zyoin, Who Do You Know For Dough?, and WiseStepp connect employers with prospective employees, many of whom are already employed and not actively job-hunting, via networking - the people who know these qualified candidates. Rewards for referring a candidate who gets hired range from $50 on up to several thousand dollars - not chump change. If you know a lot of job-seekers (and who doesn't these days?), this is a great way to break into the recruiting business with no overhead.
Connect suppliers with buyers.
Referral fees are a common practice in business, but they haven't been used much in online networking sites because there was no way to track them. Sites like Salesconx, InnerSell and uRefer now provide that. Vendors set the referral fees they're willing to pay (and for what), and when the transaction happens, you get paid. uRefer also allows merchants to set up referral programs for introductions and meetings, as well as transactions.
Write.
A growing number of sites will pay for your articles or blog posts. Associated Content and Helium will "pay for performance" based on page views for just about anything you want to write about. Articles on specific topics they're looking for can earn direct payments up to about $200. The rates are probably low for established writers, but if you're trying to break into the field and have time on your hands, they're a great way to start. Also, a lot of companies are looking for part-time bloggers. They may pay per post or on a steady contract. Our Weblogs Guide posts blogging jobs weekly in the forum.
Start your own blog.
You don't have to have your own Web site, or install blogging software, or even figure out how to set up the advertising. At Blogger you can set up a blog for free in less than five minutes without knowing a thing about web design, and Blogger even automates setting up Google AdSense so you can make money off your blog by displaying ads and getting paid when people click on the ads. To make even more money from it, set up an affiliate program (see below) for books, music, etc., and insert your affiliate links whenever you refer to those items. You'll have to get a lot of traffic to become a six-figure blogger, but pick an interesting topic, write well, tell all your friends, and you're off to a good start.

Create topical resource hubs.
Are you an expert on a particular niche topic? Can you put together an overview of the topic and assemble some of the best resources on the topic from around the web? Then you can create topical hubs and get paid through sites like Squidoo, HugPages and Google Knol. Payments are based on a combination of ad revenue and affiliate fees. You'll get higher rates doing it on your own, but these sites have a built-in supply of traffic and tools to make content creation easier.
Advertise other people's products.
If you already have a Web site or a blog, look for vendors that offer related but non-competing products and see if they have an affiliate program. Stick to familiar products and brands - they're easier to sell. To promote those products:
Microstock photography.
You don't have to be a professional photographer to sell your photos for money. People are constantly in need of stock photography for websites, presentations, brochures and so on, and are willing to pay for the right image. People generally search for images on stock photography sites by keywords, not by photographer, so you have the same chance as anyone else of having your image picked. Just be careful that you don't have images of trademarked brands, copyrighted art or people's faces that are readily identifiable (unless you have a model release), but just about anything else is fair game, and I promise - you'd be amazed what people need pictures of, so don't make any assumptions. If it's a decent photo, upload it. Some sites to get you started include Fotolia, ShutterStock, Dreamstime and iStockphoto. The great thing about this is that it's truly "set it and forget it".
The above list is by no means comprehensive, but it highlights some of the new and interesting ways to make money online without investing any money, without having a product of your own, and without having expert sales and marketing skills. Most of all, unlike taking surveys or getting paid to read e-mail, the potential return on your time investment is substantial.
So I put together a list of business opportunities with legitimate companies that:
- Pay cash, not just points towards rewards or a chance to win money
- Don't require you to have your own Web domain or your own products
- Don't involve any hard-selling
- Aren't just promoting more Internet marketing
- Give a good return on your time investment
Sites like ReferEarns, Zyoin, Who Do You Know For Dough?, and WiseStepp connect employers with prospective employees, many of whom are already employed and not actively job-hunting, via networking - the people who know these qualified candidates. We were contacted by Jesse, a single dad from North Carolina. He emailed us hoping to share his success story (he’s making $249+ per day only working a couple hours) in the hopes of helping others enjoy the same income and lifestyle as him.
We thought it was a great idea so we asked Jesse a few questions:
Why did you want to start making money online?
Answer: For me, it was to have more time with my kids. Being a single Dad and working I didn’t get to spend the quality time I wanted to. That and I like buying nice things for myself and my children.
What made you finally decide to start working from home?
Answer: Well, I got laid off from my job thanks to downsizing and the company I was working for sending jobs to India. I couldn’t find any work and I knew a friend who ‘made money online’ so I thought I’d give it a try. So glad I did.
I wish I started sooner!
What advise would you like to pass on?
Answer: Find a proven system to follow, get started right away, and have fun! I found Robert Allen’s (he has 2 International best selling books) ‘Multiple Streams of Income’ (click here to visit the official site)
How many hours do you work a day?
Answer: It depends but I would say I average only about 1-2 hours per day.
How did you know where to start making money?
Answer: I was lucky enough to find the Robert Allen’s System - his kit showed me step-by-step exactly what to do, they made it so easy. I recommend it.
How long did it take until you saw results?
Answer: I made money the second day and I got my first check for $697.32 7 days after starting
What’s the best part about working from home?
Answer: I love everything about it. I have no boss, no set working hours, more time with my kids, more time to do things I love…everyone should be able to live this lifestyle, it’s really not that hard...that’s why I wanted to share this with everyone!
Any final words to pass on Jesse?
Answer: Sure, I know what you’re going through, it’s kind of scary to think about making money on your own, is it risky? Is it possible? All of these are just fear and doubts trying to hold you back…push through them and get started immediately…that’s the only way to kill your fears and doubts. Trust me, it’s worth it and you’ll be happy you did
We’d like to thank Jesse for his time and congratulate him on his success. If you would like more information the system that Jesse uses click here to visit the official website and check availability in your area.
We’d also like to thank the Robert Allen for taking the time to simply explain exactly what you need to do to start making money online immediately.

The Four Hour Work Week is a partial autobiographical, mostly self-help book by Tim Ferris, detailing ways to create a ‘four hour work week’ by being an online entrepreneur. The book has garnered rave reviews from some editors and mixed reviews from readers, so let’s take a look shall we? What is Tim Ferris: The 4 Hour Work Week all about?
Tim Ferris is first and foremost, an online businessman, specializing in-you guessed it!-product selling. He claims to have the knowledge that allows you to ultimately make up to 40K a week with only about 4 hours of work a week. Sounds too good to be true…?
So, What’s the DEAL?
Tim Ferris’ system basically breaks down into DEAL:
Definition: Define what you want in life (Basically, write down your goals) and what you want and need to do to get there. Build yourself a roadmap to success, a list of goals, a bucket list, whatever you want.
Elimination: Stop wasting your time with surfing the ‘net, checking your phone, writing e-mails, and the myriad of other distractions which plague so many newcomer entrepreneurs and contributes to their failure.
Automation: Learn how to outsource most of your hum-drum activities to virtual assistants for as cheap as possible. This way, you can have someone else manage things like writing e-mails, taking phone calls and making appointments for you and whatever else would distract you from building your online business.
Liberation: Outsource everything you can and take more mini-vacations. Eventually, quit your job altogether. You shouldn’t need it anymore by this point anyway!
Does this all sound way to good too be true?
Many users have been very happy with this system; they were able to follow the steps, build online businesses and live fairly comfortable lives, free from their job. Others take parts of the information found here and apply it well while still mixing in their own spin. The information found in this book is largely general enough to apply to anyone at least in part, so there is something for everyone.
Still others though have been suspicious. The idea of only spending four hours a week working sounds good, but the fact is that at least in the beginning, you will be logging in a lot more than four hours a week on your business and if you have several businesses rotating around as most successful entrepreneurs do, you will generally be working more than four hours a week. It’ll be less than forty, but more than four. Still others don’t want to outsource everything; they may not trust someone across the ocean with their personal information, they may have been burned by bad freelancers before, they may like some aspects of the work to do it themselves. Finally, many people had problems with the ethics in the book and the idea of outsourcing everything on the principle that if everyone did that, nothing would get done. (I guess there’s always mooks who’d rather work than lounge around).
Is This Book Worth It?!
Surprisingly, yes, despite the nay-sayers. This book does contain some gems of wisdom, including where you can outsource successfully and how and why, some good ideas on how to market your particular product and plenty of motivation for you. If you don’t mind using legal-but-grey-ethical-practices, this book has plenty of tips and tricks for you and by working through the steps and putting in the effort at the beginning, mixed with a good dose of luck, you too can have a four hour work week (or nearly).
This book seems to be best used though in conjunction with your own ideas and ethics in the online business world. Not everyone is going to want (or need) a virtual assistant, not everyone will want to outsource their writing, coding and graphic work, and not everyone will want to do things like re-branding their product or throwing fake E-bay auctions for market research. But everyone can take a boost of motivation (or laughter) from his life story and common sense ideas like eliminating the distractions in your life and defining what you want in life and work is always a good thing.
The Four Hour Work Week is yet another book detailing ways to be successful in making money online. It has its humorous spots and has plenty of tips and tricks to minimize the amount of time you actually spend working. Whether or not you actually have a four hour work week is largely up to luck and how much work you want to do yourself; much like the rest of the book, your best bet is to pick the things that seem like they’d work for you and leave the rest behind.
Worth the price? Maybe, but you could take it out of the library too and save your money. After all, one of the keys to any successful business online and off is spend little, make lots and that is one of the themes in this book too. Pick it up for yourself if you’re interested in basic techniques for building online businesses or you just want to add some tweaks to your usual methods to make money online.

Hacking
Hacking or using scripts to hack into other peoples’ email accounts or social networking accounts is relatively common and it’s illegal. The idea behind hacking in this case is to grab contact lists which you can then spam with your newsletters and advertisements or sometimes viruses intended to steal information.
What to do instead: If you’re going to try to shortcut by getting email lists, at least have the decency to buy those email lists from providers. It’s still a bit scuzzy, but only in terms of irritating people and you ending up in the junk folder more often than not, but at least it’s not illegal.
Scams
Scams abound and they cost internet users across the world tens of millions a year. The wide variety of scams is astounding, as are the people who fall for them. Sure you’ll make money ripping people’s credit cards, bank cards, and other personal information off of them, but as soon as anyone catches you at it, you’ll lose it all and spend some hard time in prison. Most governments are now cracking down hard on internet scammers and it’s far better to get your money honestly and get to keep it rather than get filthy rich fast, lose it all and then go to jail. Plus, of course it’s completely immoral to take other peoples’ money no matter how susceptible they are.
What to do instead: Turn the tables! Instead of being the scammer, write e-books and articles about how to avoid being scammed. Those with knowledge about how to scam others can make a nice living teaching people how to avoid them. Not only is this a completely legal way to make money online, but you’ll be doing everyone a public service as well.
Ghostwriting Doctorate Papers
It’s sad, but true: the power of the internet has made it far easier for students in a Master’s or pHD program to cheat. Whether it’s by cutting/pasting large parts of their paper or hiring someone to write their paper for them, these cheats abound. If you are a freelance writer with any integrity, avoid these projects like the plague. You will spend a couple of months doing someone else’s homework and all of your work will let them carry off the honors and get a better job! Not only is it degrading, but it is immoral and against school policies to have someone else write your papers and employers who have been hoodwinked by a degree that wasn’t really earned are going to be furious.
What to do instead: Do yourself a favour and simply steer clear of this mess. There are plenty of legit writing jobs out there. Opt for working with small internet entrepreneurs, or businesses; these writing jobs are going to be 100% legit and you’ll build businesses relations that aren’t founded on lies. And always check the reviews/credentials of a potential client to make sure they are truly on the up and up.
Non Deliverance of Goods
One of the most common ways to make money illegally across the board? Promise the world and never deliver it. This problem may start as simple poor work ethic and quickly evolves into fraud. You may demand half up front for a piece of art or an article and then vanish. You may demand a credit card number for payment of a product and then the product never shows up. It’s completely illegal, not to mention a horrible business practice.
What to do instead: Always deliver on your promises. Not only will you stay on the right side of the law, but you’ll also stay on the right side of word of mouth-and word of mouth is the best form of free advertising around.
Sadly, there are plenty of immoral people and crooks online and they take advantage of everyone else by ripping them off and stealing things. Don’t be one of them: stick to the legal ways to make money online and you’ll soon be making money online and be doing it in such a way that you won’t land in jail or end up with a poor reputation!
SUCCESS STORIES:
How MONEY MAKING works
HawkinsBux is NOT a Autosurf, Multi-Level Marketing, Pyramid, Ponzi, Matrix or "Get Rich Quick" scheme.HawkinsBux is a new innovative, international and FREE English based service that allows advertisers to reach thousands of potential customers by displaying their ad on our, "Surf Ads" page. A exact calculated percentage of all advertising revenue is paid to our members. HawkinsBux makes money via advertising, other advertising sources throughout the website as well as earning through direct sponsorship of other HawkinsBux members, just like a regular member does.
How you make money
You view websites in 30 second sessions via the "Surf Ads" page. Once the 30 seconds is up, you'll either get a green tick sign or a red 'X'. The green tick sign means you've earned $0.01 and as premium member $0.0125 for the visit and the 'X' means you have not earned money for the visit. You'll get red X's when you have more than one website from the "Surf Ads" page open. When this happens, you get no credit.
A valuable benefit to both the members and the advertisers is the repeat exposure that the advertiser gets. Whenever you click and view a website, you can visit that website again in 24 hours as long as the visit cap hasn't been reached. That's right! After 24 hours you can click and view the website again. This gives the advertiser optimal exposure by using "repeat advertising" and it further increases the members earning potential.
Earnings example (based on current averages)
» You click 10 ads per day = $0.10
» 20 referrals click 10 ads per day = $2.00
» Your daily earnings = $2.10
» Your weekly earnings = $14.70
» Your monthly earnings = $63.00
While we have no way of knowing how many ads will be available on a per week basis, we do know that HawkinsBux is growing rapidly and advertisers are discovering the true potential of our service. We've just started and our advertiser base is small so BE PATIENT! Over the next coming months you will see an increase in the ads which will only increase your earnings! This is not a get-rich-scheme or scam, but it can put some extra gas money in your pocket!
