10 New Ways to Make Money Online

I’m not talking about advertising or affiliate marketing or selling your junk on eBay. Those are so last millennium! I’m talking about the new new economy.
1. Offer your professional expertise in an online marketplace. These days, you can do more than just sell your old books via Amazon and your old Coach handbags via eBay—now you can sell your professional capabilities in a marketplace. No longer are you limited to looking for a permanent or contract job on Web 1.0 style job sites like Monster or CareerBuilder. The new breed of freelancing and project-oriented sites let companies needing help describe their projects. Then freelancers and small businesses offer bids or ideas or proposals from which those buyers can choose.
Elance covers everything from programming and writing to consulting and design, while RentACoder focuses on software, natch. If you’re a graphic designer, check out options like Design Outpost or LogoWorks–you don’t have to find the customers, they’ll come to you. Wannabe industry analysts might sign up for TechDirt’s Insight Community, a marketplace for ideas about technology marketing.
2. Sell photos on stock photography sites. If people regularly oooo and aaaaah over your Flickr pics, maybe you’re destined for photographic greatness or maybe just for a few extra dollars. It’s easier than ever to get your photos out in front of the public, which of course means a tremendous amount of competition, but also means it might be an convenient way for you to build up a secondary income stream. Where can you upload and market your photos? Try Fotolia, Dreamstime, Shutterstock, and Big Stock Photo.
3. Blog for pay. Despite the explosion of blogs, it’s hard to find good writers who can turn around a solidly-written post on an interesting topic quickly. GigaOM is always looking for bloggers with great content ideas and solid writing skills. How do you get noticed? Comment and link to blogging network sites. Write blog posts that are polished and not overly personal (although showing some personality is a plus).
4. Or start your own blog network. If you like the business side of things–selling advertising, hiring and managing employees, attracting investors–and have the stomach to go up against the likes of Weblogs, Inc., GigaOmniMedia, b5media, maybe you should make an entire business out of blogs. Don’t make the mistake of thinking you’ll get a lot of time to write yourself though.
5. Provide service and support for open source software. Just because the software is free doesn’t mean you can’t make money on it–just ask Red Hat, a well-known distributor of Linux that sports a market cap of more than four billion dollars. As a solo web worker, you might not want to jump in and compete with big companies offering Linux support, but how about offering support for web content management systems like WordPress or Drupal? After getting comfortable with your own installation, you can pretty easily jump into helping other people set them up and configure them.
6. Online life coaching. Who has time to go meet a personal coach at an office? And don’t the new generation of web workers need to be met by their coaches in the same way that they work: via email, IM, and VoIP? You could, of course, go through some life coaching certification program, but on the web, reputation is more important than credentials. I bet Tony Robbins isn’t certified as a life coach–and no one can argue with his success. For an example of someone building up their profile and business online as a coach, check out Pamela Slim of Ganas Consulting and the Escape from Cubicle Nation blog.
7. Virtually assist other web workers. Freelancers and small businesses desperately need help running their businesses, but they’re not about to hire a secretary to come sit in the family room and answer phone calls. As a virtual assistant, you might do anything from making travel reservations to handling expense reimbursements to paying bills to arranging for a dog sitter. And you do it all from your own home office, interacting with your clients online and by phone. You can make $20 and up an hour doing this sort of work, depending on your expertise.
8. Build services atop Amazon Web Services. Elastic computing on AWS is so cool… and so incredibly primitive right now. Did you know that you can’t even count on your virtual hard drive on EC2 to store your data permanently? That’s why people are making money right now by offering services on top of AWS. Make it easier for people to use Amazon’s scalability web infrastructure like Enomaly has with elasticlive, a scalable web hosting platform built on AWS.
9. Write reviews for pay or perks. If you blog for any length of time on a particular topic–parenting, mobile phones, or PCs, for example–you will likely be approached to do book or product reviews. You can get free stuff this way, but are you selling your soul? Is there any such thing as a free laptop? These are decisions you’ll have to make for yourself, because no one agrees upon what ethical rules apply to bloggers. Even less do people agree on services like PayPerPost that pay you to write reviews on your blog. Check out disclosure rules closely and see whether such a gig would meet your own personal standards or not.
10. Become a virtual gold farmer. A half million Chinese now earn income by acquiring and selling World of Warcraft gold to gamers in other countries. If you’re not a young person living in China, this probably isn’t a viable option for you. But what’s intriguing about it is the opportunity to make real money working in a virtual economy. People are making real-world money in Second Life too.

There’s another option and that’s about providing tech support using remote desktop software or over phone via Ether.
I think that as we move forward more and more people will be able to make a living from the Internet. The huge online market, after all, makes it much easier to find specific talents all over the world.
However:
Getting relevant inbound links to a site can be very time consuming and require a great deal of research and patience. If you are willing to find good links for website then this can be very lucrative. I know that web agencies or even individual businesses would pay good money for someone to carry out this service for them. It can be done on a freelance basis and doesn’t require much skill apart from knowing your way around the net and having the creativity to find ways in which to get a good inbound link to a website.

The Pandora Effect.
i have this ideas last year..but, not have time to implement it..
LogoWorks, for example, opperates as something of a contest. When a job comes in, many designers are expected to contribute time and effort. Only one will be chosen. At the time of my research, designers were only paid “up to” $40 per logo (with a “possibility” for a little more — but only if their design is chosen by the client). That sounds like a lot, but consider that in order to gross $25,000 a year (barely an entry-level starting salary for a designer), one would have to contribute 12 original logos a week, for 52 weeks — that’s 624 original designs over the course of a year.
By those numbers, it becomes clear that any sort of sustainable income through those kinds of services is pretty much impossible — even the best designer would quickly burn out. But to be fair, someone might be able to make some short-term cash.
I guess it can be applied to any creative enterprise.
:)
Offering SEO services could be a great way to make cash online.
* Customers need to obtain good value for the price from whatever they purchase.
* Sellers (that’s you) need to obtain a good price for whatever you offer.
* The company marketing the system needs to offer you good value for what you pay to get involved with their system, and they obviously have to get something out of it. Some of the ideas (selling your services through a freelancing site) may be zero-price, but the same reciprocal benefit must apply.
* Sellers need a way to market their product / service, attracting attention from potential buyers without being offensive (e.g., spamming, spimming, or splogging) or dishonest (unacknowledged posting for pay). They have to cut through the constant clutter of “hey, buy from ME!” that permeates radio, television, print media, and most Web sites.
Where the Internet offers an advantage is in “location utility.” You no longer have to have a physical office in the business district of your customer’s town. I just do not see most of us setting up a profit-making shop in Second Life or something. In that sense, I don’t expect that there is all that much difference between “Web 2.0″ business models and older online business models.
thanks!!!!

I would be more than happy to talk with you about your new site, Chemopalooza. I have owned a health related site for about 3 years now and have a lot of experience. I’d love to give you some pointers so you don’t make the same mistakes I did when I first started out! ;)
This post really illustrates another point too – be sure to make contacts in your field and ask them a lot of questions.. you would be surprised how much someone will tell you – people love to help!!
Anyway, Kelly, definitely shoot me an email with the name I used here at gmail.com.
Good Luck!!!

Besides all of that making money from home is a business. Our tax system is designed to help business, not employees. So you can work from home and write off all kinds of things on your taxes as business expenses. Besides I love my 20 second commute and the lack of wear and tear on my car isn’t bad either.

I believe for most bloggers that write well and make you feel good after reading their blog will do best with freelance journalism work. As for myself I like to reply as many discussions and create discussion on stocks I trade through finance.google.com
Although my blog isn’t a big hit because my niche is trading stocks, which isn’t something the masses read about, I still do pretty well being found on the search engines, other finance blogs, and google discussion boards. I’d like to put some googleAds on my site, but feel I’m not receiving enough traffic to make it profitable yet.
It would be awesome to be paid to research stocks and blog about them like I already do, but I’m still much of a newby in stocks.
thanks for your post,

http://www.neopets.com is a virtual petsite, that also has a TCG, Neopets, that comes with a “rare item code” in each pack – the rare item code often sells for more then the cost of the packet, depending on which release of the TCG – certain ones are better then the other..
The really funny thing is that it’s a complete gamble. They enter the code into the website, and can get something good – or complete unusable junk.
:D
Thought you might find that funny, in the vein of things – money from virtual item codes, which could be total junk :D
I am certainly not alone in this belief, as within the professional design community there is a large (and rather vocal) opposition to this type of business model. This opposition is exacerbated by the much-publicized cases in which some of these companys (like LW for example) ripping off the work of other designers and re-selling it their own after only minor modifications.
Furthermore, many of these sites require that designers submit ‘sample concepts’ in response to a would-be client’s request, to be judged against other submissions and the ‘winner’ will be chosen for the paying project. This type of work, known as “speculative work”, is frowned upon by most professional designers as it ultimately does a great dis-service to everyone involved. A very long and growing list of independent designers, as well as agencies and pro orgs, have signed on to a movement/commitment to not engage in such activity. To learn more about this issue (and the campaign to address it) I encourage you to visit http://www.no-spec.com/
A VA is a business owner who partners with other business owners to provide collaborative, ongoing relationships. In simplest terms, I am a small business owner who provides back-end or administrative solutions to other small business owners on a long-term basis. I am not an employee nor a temp. I am a professional who chooses my own clients based on our mutual goals. As such, our industry charges on average $35-75 per hour, based on expertise and the services we choose to offer. We have many years of previous administrative experience that prepares us for being a VA. Some of us choose to also provide specialty services such as web design, bookkeeping, etc.
Thank you for allowing me to shed some light on what a VA is and does. If you need the services of a VA or want more information, visit my web site at . You can also check out my blog at

I personally use PayPerPost to make a quick buck, which I use to cover up my hosting fees and the rest, I contribute to charity.
Anyway, this article was extremely useful, and I had never thought deeply about selling my photos online! I’m such an idiot! I’ve bought stock photos very many times for my design or editing work, but I never thought of it in the reverse way – that I could SELL my photos. Ofcourse, I’m just an amatuer at photography, but heaven knows….
So thanks for this article! It was EXTREMELY good, useful and unlike other “make a buck!” articles, was full of content. I’m sure that all readers found your article extremely useful in shaping their future online lives.
Cheers,
Mohan
when faced with these kinds of impossible demands sellers do exactly what buyers hope they will not, they resell stolen code, they claim to stick to the NDA but resell your custom code, they resell GNU code minus the GNU license, ie. in order to stay in the black they cut HUGE corners
i can buy 1000 ” scripts ” ranging from dating sites to my space clones to what have you all for a measly 150 USD in India right now,
when buyers forces sellers to work faster for peanuts, they hit back with dishonesty,
im sure you read of the case in India where a reporter posing as a buyer was able to bring an IT manager at one of the larger outsource providers around to part with sensitive customer data of one of its customers, a large British bank (!), for a pittance – under 5000 USD. this is just ONE of them, stealing and reselling data to the highest bidder is a cottage industry in India just like pirated DVDs and CDs are in China and Malaysia,
there isnt ONE online market place that attacts buyers that pay decently. PERIOD.
i did it for almost 3 years and i have had to fight tooth and nail to keep body and soul together with what I have earned.
Rob – how is it bad for customers to get to choose from a number of different possibilities before they have to commit money? I know of a number of small businesses who hired web designers only to receive designs that were unacceptable. Had they been able to review options from multiple designers first, they would have been better served.
It’s not at all clear to me how designer vs. designer devalues the design profession. Has blogging devalued the writing profession, just because everything we write is available for the whole world to see and judge? On the contrary, I find it makes me even more aware of good writing when I come across it.
A word of warning. some people who say they’re “coaches” are actually consultants or therapists who call themselves a coach because they perceive it to be a more popular or more marketable term.
Tony Robbins may or may not have done any coach training courses but you might want to think carefully about calling yourself a coach with out any training unless you’ve done as much personal development work as Tony has.
Encouraging people to be a fraud as a business model may not be a great idea.
Bullshit artists on the web often get found out and exposed. If you get exposed on the net for pretending to be something you’re not to increase your income another 10%, that might toast your whole online reputation and your whole business model.
I’m totally agreed with you, ma friend.. :)
Also, there are many ways online to promote yourself as an expert, including contributing articles at sites such as Squidoo or writing a guide at Work.com, a how-to business site. I recently did a radio show with Anita Campbell of the Small Biz Trends blog about how to become known as an expert using Work.com.
I have documented my blog campaign starting from 0 and working to $4.5k per month.

The Internet Marketing Genius, Carael Knight
Information powers our world. The more information you have, the more money you make. It used to be you had to go to an expensive business school or spend years becoming a doctor or lawyer to have valuable information people would pay big money for.
Not anymore. Today ANYONE can use FREE classified ads to sell information demanded daily by MILLIONS of people. Think about it. These days when somebody wants to know how to do something, they GO ONLINE and look for INFORMATION to tell them how to do it.
My name is Carael Knight. I started Major Enterprise about seven years ago with a vision and a plan.
The vision was to show people how to start, run, and operate their own profitable online business. Now that led me to create the plan, which was the process of carrying out the vision!

The Internet Marketing Genius, Carael Knight
Hello Everyone,
Out of everyone here, I am probably the most skeptical person when it comes to making money via the internet given all the scams and get-rich-quick schemes out there. Well, to the cut to the chase, a friend of mine turned me over to a new business opportunity which provides discounts for its members for over 175,000 name brand nationwide products and services! At the same time, members are given an opportunity to earn a commission.
When I first heard about this, I was like, no way! I thought that this was just a another hyped up version of an entertainment card service…So I thought, what the heck….if I joined the worst that could happened is that I would pay less money on products and services at a reasonable cheap rate.
To my surprise, I made a profit after the first two weeks without doing anything! Of course, the real money comes from one’s performance.
Well, if you want to know more about this click on this link (or paste into your browser):

Otherwise, you’ll never know…………………………………………………….
Now for the best part — you can use your point balance to buy other contacts that you wish to obtain. In other words, if you do a search and find a dozen contacts that you wish to buy, you need only raid your business card stash and enter in a dozen of yours to get enough points.

When i first did it i never thought that i could compete with books at Banes and Noble or Amazon price wise with less content. I sold an ebook for $27, then $47, then $67, all the way up to $97 USD!
Its all about the niche researching, marketing, and having the right advertising copy. Traffic plus conversion equals lots of money.
The beauty with selling information products is after you sell them you keep nearly 100% of the profit! You don’t have to ship anything, you can send it by digital delivery, its effortless. Plus there are so many more ways to monetize off selling information products as well, can offer upsells and backends, you can make good money doing it.

Also, there are many more. For example, using your skills to joint venture with start ups who cannot afford you right now but would give you a piece of the bigger pie as a founding owner. There are networks where people are doing this regularly as mentioned at http://www.your-multiple-income-streams.com
Now, the next step is for those people who want to do those things is for them to take action.
I found PLR Share which promotes the Sharing of PLR eBooks etc.
So, if you have any ebooks you have bought and are collecting digital dust, then make use of it and share it with someone.
It is important to say that i don’t earn anything on you there is no referral system there and things like that – you will see.
good luck.

I have been in “traditional” office environment for 20 years and I WANT OUT!!!!!!! I think I am going to DIE!!!!
I’m not a rocket scientist…..just a regular office robot! I’m not a programmer, developer. I don’t have my own website, I don’t even understand some of the stuff you guys talk about here! ( I do like to surf the net) There are so many websites and scams. What does someone like me do to get out of the “rat-race”? I have to be somewhat practical….I need real income, insurance or make enough money to buy my own insurance, you know the usual things. I have applied to a few companies, but nothing so far. I don’t expect to get RICH, just get the bills paid and take a vacation sometime. What now? Sooooooo confused.
Perhaps we’ll also do a feature on the question you’re asking — it’s a really good one!

What if the affiliate program itself was one based on recurring commissions? And based on a product that literally ALL webworkers would need? There’s a huge market out there for hosting, content management, autoresponders, domain names etc that people are already paying a monthly/yearly fee for. It’s like once you refer a few webworkers to its service, you wont need to pay for your hosting anymore – and you’ll start earning from it already (and that’s not considering your other income stream – your actual website).
I found one such program here, maybe you guys would like to give it a try..

Most players look on buying virtual gold as “cheating,” and ostracize those who are known to have done so. They especially dislike the gold sellers themselves, as they frequently use cheats and monopolize spawns of monsters and resources. This goes for pretty much any game.
There are a few games where it’s possible to make real-world money without cheating or breaking the ToS, such as Entropia Universe. These are clearly advertised as such, however.

1. Read that businessweek article following that link:http://images.businessweek.com/ss/07/07/0714_bloggers/index.htm
You can see that half of those success stories had started as a joke.
2. Search Google for the term “need money” and you see that more than half of the first 20 search results are scamming all the way to the bank.
Thank you for your 10 tips.
It’s nice artikel..
Owning your own blog and domain would be best since you will be building up your own reputation and can sell it later on if you like.
Another option to make money online not mentioned here is selling affiliate products. If you already have your own blog you can use that too as an additional source of income. It’s better than a hard sell sales page because blogs have a more personal connection with readers, so readers are more willing to listen to a bloggers’ recommendation.
If you can fill your blog with some good content, you can also attract direct advertisers by selling advertising space.
Bottom line is, no single method of making money online will make you rich overnight. That’s a fact.
But if you have enough MULTIPLE sources of online income, they all add up. Just keep on trying and testing since different people will see different results from the thousands of ways to make money online.

of your website and any pages you wish to have advertisements on. They then match you with advertisers and pay you £3 per
advert that you display on your website for a month. You can enter up to 5 websites and 5 pages on each site so potentially
you could make £75 a month for doing vitually nothing and you could earn even more through their affiliate scheme with an
extra £5 per referral.

Sorry if this is redundant, but I’m a bit out of the loop on all this. (Web 2.0 means?) I have a question which someone might be able to shed some light on for me..
As a South African, is it practical to do pay-per-post type work. Aren’t these all American based companies? How about some tips on international opportunities…
Really interesting stuff – look forward to seeing what comes next :)
CashJuke is also a great resource for how to make money online.
I write a blog about making money on the side without falling for scams:

Good tips there
Take care.
There’s always something new to try out and now I’ve got access to a constant list of homeworker jobs to keep an eye on, I can keep checking that I am earning the most I can and doing the best things I can.
What works for one person won’t work for another. The same way we don’t all like one flavour of ice cream. I am currently using about 6 different ways to earn money online – and always trying out another 2-3. I like to give anything a good year’s trying before I can decide whether it’s any good, some things have seasonal peaks and over a year I can also see this. If one thing earns £200/year, but £150 of that is in one month, then I would continue doing it, but only that one month of the year.
Or even better – let others develop content on your site.

Of course, the big money comes from offering professional expertise in an online marketplace. By using what you know, and applying yourself, you can turn your expertise into a full-time income.
I’ve had some luck in my blog MaximizingMoney.com, which allows me to make money online while showing others how to make extra money by taking advantage of bonus offers, shopping promotions, and special discounts for everyday financial transactions.
Great list, thanks.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I’m always looking for ways to improve myself and I’m glad to have found your blog. Thank you for sharing with us.
Cheers,

SERVICES!
Care to guess what the single most overlooked business opportunity on
the Net happens to be? SERVICES!
All around Internet people are trying to make money by selling some kind of a product. Maybe because products don’t require as much work as services do. Nothing wrong with that, but services are a huge untapped opportunity! If you’re already offering some services offline or if you have any kind of knowledge just use the Internet and you’ll have more customers and earn more money than you can imagine.
Whatever it is:products or services, be serious about Internet and money and you’ll make itTrust me
more power.
What I’ve learnt to do is what I call a reverse search to first see if there is actually a market searching for my new idea. I do this by putting together a Google adwords campaign targeting many different key words on that niche. I typically start with around 20 to 30 different ads with each targeting a different key word.
In doing this I usually invest around $200 to $300 and test the market for a month. When a visitor clicks on my ad they are taken to a site where I have a quick survey that tells them I am thinking of launching a product to suite this niche. I ask them to complete the survey and I will send them a complimentary product when I release it. Usually around 25% fill out the survey which includes what price they would be happy to pay for such a product and what they would like to see in the product. You see I get the information direct from the market as to what they want which I will include in my sales copy as bullet points.
I hope this may help some people to save a fortune on setting up an internet marketing campaign, website, blog, sales copy, autoresponders etc by investing much less into a little homework first.
My best to all of you.

Just be creative to make your money, then innovative to keep it flowing.
eBay does work. I was a Power Seller on eBay for a few years. It is a great market place although fees are a little excessive. You need a product with a good profit margin to make eBay worthwhile. My problem with selling on eBay was the fact that I was shipping orders everyday. This was too much for me. Affiliate marketing is more do-able. No inventory and no shipping.
Lots of choices for everyone and they all will work if you have the desire to succeed. This is the KEY. DRIVE will make you the money.
Thanks for the great info.
Is anybody else having any success on facebook?

All these sites that claim you can earn $50k a year by spending an hour a day infront of your laptop are ruining it for the genuine make money schemes out there.
